Do good recklessly & write words that matter
Doing good recklessly is our way of saying, ‘do good first, ask questions later’. That might not be the first rule of business, but it’s the first rule of our business.
As well as taking on larger copywriting projects, we support small businesses in the form of micro-projects like writing a single website page, or by being a sounding board for people tackling content themselves. Everyone has to start somewhere, so it’s important to us that we have help to suit every budget.
Katie Gillingham – Chief Copywriter
The only time I ever got into trouble as a child, was when I stayed up past my bedtime reading adventure stories by torchlight. Fast forward a few years, and now I’m a professional wordsmith. Somewhere in between, I worked in marketing, where I learned all about the mechanics of writing for the web and getting seen by search engines. Now I’m a creative Copywriter who knows how to get results. Oh, and I still stay up past my bedtime reading adventure stories.
Laura Gillingham – Organisational whizz
I’ve always been creative, although my childhood was less illegal reading and more making ‘mud spaghetti bolognese’ in the garden (yummy). Nowadays, I only deal with tomatoes and garlic when it comes to pasta sauces, but I channel my creativity in other ways! From blog post writing, to project planning and invoicing – I’m in charge of operations around here – which is why we work so well as our sisterly duo!
We plant trees
Did you know: a professional person can add on an extra 135kg of CO2 to their carbon footprint from the emails they send and receive PER YEAR. and the average website produces 1.76g CO2 per page view!
We love our floating ball of rock and are very conscious that we reduce any negative impact of our business activities, so we have decided to plant trees to offset the carbon footprint caused by the small amount of printing we do, boiling the kettle, sending emails including our newsletter, and the running of our website.
As we’re only small and started trading on June 1st 2021, the best way for us to do this at the moment is to evaluate and plant our trees at the end of the year, so watch this space!

What it’s like to work with us…
We’ve been working with local removals firm, Pitman’s Removals, to write blog articles for their website in order to gain more traffic from Google. This is what Mark has to say about working with us…
I contacted Katie via email to explain what I was trying to achieve (and with a couple of post titles), and she came back with amazing, well-written posts about our removals services. She did her homework – it’s very, very hard to find someone to write in a fashion that the public will find easy to read when visiting your website.
Our web developers that do all of our website work from design to installation say that all the blogs are “absolutely perfect for rankings, well written, and full of relevant text.” which is good for when people are searching on Google.
Katie’s writing has just the right amount of text, and it does not get boring. I have asked Katie to make a few tweaks to posts, and she did not mind one bit – honestly, she is driven by giving her best and it shows!
I personally think that we have enjoyed a very busy few weeks here with the phone and emails with new enquiries and a lot is down to this special, talented gifted girl. I’m going to keep using her always.”
Frequently asked questions
There’s no such thing as a daft question! If you’ve got one that we haven’t added to this list yet. then please do drop Katie an email.
What does writing copy mean?
This could also be ‘what is copywriting?’ Writing copy is all about motivating people to take some kind of action. That’s it. Whether it’s signing up to your newsletter, giving your Facebook page a like, buying your product again once they’ve already purchased (hello, back of cereal boxes), donating to charitable causes, or booking a meeting with you.
What is SEO Copywriting?
SEO copywriting, or Search Engine Optimisation copywriting is creating copy that helps get your website seen on search engines. Once upon a time, this meant using lots of keywords, but nowadays it largely means creating clear, helpful content that your audience finds useful.
We aren’t SEO specialists, so you’ll need to hire one of those if you’re looking to get yourself on to page one of Google – there’s a lot to it! But we do know how to write enticing copy to keep your audience and the search engines happy.
How much does a Copywriter cost?
In the interests of transparency, and giving you a simple answer: we charge £300 per day.
The slightly more complex answer is that it varies on a per-project basis. We offer a discount for longer projects or ongoing work and do have slots for micro-projects that don’t take all day.
We know sometimes it feels like a service like ours is impossible if you don’t have the budget, but no budget? No problem! We’ve got options to suit all sorts of needs. We’re also pretty lovely people even if we do say so ourselves, so if you’ve got an idea but feel bummed out by the potential cost – get in touch with us anyway!
